At first, I thought, great a hunting book. I hate the book already. I'm a mexican-american girl raised in south Texas by a semi-catholic mexcian family with only some family members that have held a gun and it was not to go hunting but rather because they were part of a gang or getting initiated into a gang. I thought, I cannot relate to this stupid book.<br /><br />I read the book and finished it through without a problem. Fast forward to today and I STILL remember the book and how it made me feel. I can't remember if I shed a tear at the end or not, but I do recall the ending being extremely moving and very sad.<br /><br />Maybe I should visit the library and check it out. It's been decades since I've read it and would love to be transported back to that special place again.
